NYU really stood out to me because it offers students the opportunity to immerse themselves in different cultures
while simultaneously studying at an NYU campus. Withy NYU’s study abroad programs, students like myself are able to choose from a wide range of cities to study at.
In addition, I chose to apply to NYU because I know that I will be getting a very hands on and intimate education because of the small student to teacher ratio in the classrooms. This is especially important to me because I believe that an intimate education will allow me to be evaluated by the professor more carefully. I want to be able get a one-on-one contact with my professors and would like to collaborate with them. I want to be able to have a shared experience rather than a one-way communication of information. I believe that NYU will give me that experience because of the small teacher to student ratio and that is what really stood out to me and is especially important to me when applying to colleges.
Another reason why I chose NYU is because of its stellar location in Greenwich Village, NYC. To be able to study my passions and to pursue a career in the architecture field in such an environment is a privilege and opportunity. Knowing that I will be studying in NYC, I know that I will have a lot of great connections and be able to network with very intelligent and amazing students as well as the people within the city. In addition, NYC and NYU are both very diverse. I believe that there are many opportunities to learn from and learn with people of different ethnicities, races, ages, abilities, sexual identities, and religions and this is really important to me to have when going to college.
Lastly, NYU really caught my eye when applying to colleges because it is really the only school that allows students like myself to design the degree they want and how they want through the Gallatin School of Individualized Study. Every other college had one aspect or another of the career I want to pursue. However, NYU would allow me to have all the aspects of the passions I want to pursue.
