Today, 65 countries are involved in
the OBOR initiative, representing 30% of the global economy. With each country
being in a different economic status, the OBOR initiative’s impact can differ
between countries (Huang, 2016). Due to the range variety of routes composing
the initiative and the large number of countries involved, it might be
challenging to examine every aspect of the strategy. However, the division of
the two main routes in corridors allows us to make a more specific approach in
the Chinese initiative. For this reason, it has been decided that in this paper
the overall economic, trade and transport impact of the OBOR initiative will be
analyzed in respect of the central corridor of the SREB and the countries
focused will be Turkey, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Iran, China and Kazakhstan.
